Who is behind Shoot Candids?

What's wrong with me???

In 2003 my first wife and I divorced after 25 years of marriage. 25 years! Who says I am not loyal? But stuff happens, and
divorce was the only real option. I´ll have you know I am a very loyal person. I am a Leo. I have a HUGE heart, and I need
it. Loyal and generous.
So I then rebounded into a pretty young thing half my age ... literally: I was 50 and she was 25.
Life was blissfully blissful - well at least for a while. I had my Rolexes (what´s the plural of Rolex apart from
"ostentatious"?) serviced, and bought a new Armani suit, and treated myself to a new car and a beach-side apartment.
Dapper as ever, me and the new moll travelled so I could maintain my annual Airmiles average at a consistently stupid
high level. She, the new "her-indoors", took to the lifestyle like a mallard to Lake Garda in Spring, but try as she might
there was no way she was going to get any where near my Diamond Class airmiles card! And, while luckily she liked my
champagne lifestyle - except I don't like champers ... I am strictly a red wine person ( except when I make exceptions!),
she was obviously seriously jealous of my VIP lounge status. So, as many of my friends and family had hoped, things
eventually came to an end. Not a quick bitter end, but a slow achy one.
As a sensitive artist, my work suffered - well, no it didn't ... when you have the tremendously high standards of excellent
quality image capture-manship like wot I 'ave, then all one does is slow down rather than produce lower quality goods!
Focus on the money Mr Hard-man!! (Actually it wasn´t that bad ... it was pretty amicable - as was the first divorce. It was
simply inevitable.
So here I am in the second half of 2007 at a bit of a cross-roads. Do I move house, or do I move countries again. Heck, I
have been in Brazil for 10 years ... as long as I have lived anywhere!
As things stand I reckon I will keep my base in Brazil, but will scout around for somewhere else I can call home,
preferably with someone compassionate and loving and possibly about 30 years old that isn't hung up on airmiles! Any
volunteers?
In the meantime I will continue to focus on producing magical Travel, Food and Drink images, as only I can!  Where is the
corkscrew?
Alan Skyrme's photographic equipment
Exclusively Nikon!
I need to feel confident that wherever I am, in the jungle, in the street, or in the studio, that my image capturing
equipment will not let me down. I bought my first Nikon, an F2 Photomic, in 1972 and used it extensively in the
deserts of Oman and the Emirates. Unfortunately I dropped it in the Gulf of Oman in 1978. Not deep sea-proof!
Not clever!!
As a replacement I bought an F2AS that I still use, and since then I have added the F5, F6, D1X, D200 and D2X  to my stable ... plus a
multitude of Nikon lenses, flashes and other accessories - all of which gets used and abused.
Completing (but by no means concluding) the suite of Nikon digital imaging equipment is the top of the range SuperCoolscan
LS9000 that ensures 35mm and medium format films are converted to high quality digital format.

I have taken a decision to continue to invest in film cameras and thus bought the Nikon F6 on one of my regular  visits to Gray's of
Westminster .... a shop that I cannot recommend enough.
If you want the kind of service of which legends are made ... visit Gray's of
Westminster!!!
My equipment has withstood some heavy beating in extreme location and weather conditions. Sturdy stuff! Just what I need to ensure
I keep control of my image capturing knowing that the reliability of my equipment is not ever in doubt.
Nikon IS reliable.
